  • Imagine that?

Last week, I went to a wedding with my friend Nesrine.  I told her that I was leaving to go back home.  She started crying at the wedding.  She was so frustrated with me.  She wanted to know why I was leaving.  She asked me if it was because of Matt.  I told her no.  I just told her that I needed to be with my family.  She understood that, but that didn't make it any easier.

So today, she calls me and says that her boss offered her a job in Canada.  Imagine that?  One of the girls that I was the closest to might be moving too.  Without Melika and Nesrine, I'm not sure what I would have done here, especially once Lynda left.  Well, all that to say, God has given me an even bigger sense of peace now.  I don't feel as bad leaving her, if she's going to be moving too.  Praise God!  Maybe something will come from that too.  Who knows, maybe I'll have to make a trip to Canada in the future.  It's a whole lot closer than Africa.  haha!

So what else has been going on in my life?  Well, I'm going to Rome!  Yeah, I'm so excited.  I decided to take a vacation with my friend Paula.  I've saved up my money and I've always wanted to go to Rome, so we're leaving on Thursday to go to Rome for three days.  I can't wait.  Everything is in line.  I bought the ticket and the hotel is confirmed.

  • Driving in Africa!!

I know I didn't inform you all of this trip ahead of time, because I didn't want my mom to worry.  haha!  My friend Samira and I decided to rent a car today and visit a couple of seekers.  It was about a 3 hour trip from my house, but that wasn't the biggest challenge.  No!  The biggest challenge was that I've never drove a standard before today.  That's right!  I went around the block once, but I've never exceeded 2nd gear.  Today was the day!  Praise the Lord he was watching over us.  Surprisingly, I did rather well.  I've watched several people and I knew the concepts, but getting the foot work and stopping was my biggest fear.  I actually made it all the way to the gas station before I killed it.  haha!  I killed it at least 20 times stopping at the tolls and trying to reverse.  I wasn't getting it all the way into 1st gear.  By the end of the day, I was making smooth transitions and I made it home through the crazy traffic.  Seriously, who learns how to drive a standard in a busy city where people don't stay in their own lane.  Well, I do!!

So besides driving a standard for the first time, the highlight of the day was when Samira and I stopped at a shop and asked a man named Sammy if he could make a mosaic for us based on a verse out of the Bible.  He said, "Sure", so we left him a Bible in Arabic.  We're going to return in two weeks to pick up the mosaics saying "I am the way the truth and the life" in Arabic.  How cool is that?  Maybe he'll read more of it why he has the scriptures.  We can only pray.  He seemed excited to have the Bible in his hands.

  • Malta Trip

Well, I made it back from Malta with no trouble at all.  I enjoyed my trip so much.  I hung out with some friend, the C's that live in Malta.  I spent alot of time with their family.  We went to the beach and I did some shopping.  Everything is pretty high there.  I watched "Prince Caspian"  with Hannah.  It was a really great movie.  I enjoyed it alot better than the "Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.  Not to mention, it was in English!!!!  So grand total = 144!!!!!!!!  I'll explain more in my newsletter, but my trip was a success.  Praise the Lord!

  • Craziness

After Lynda left, I thought my life would slow down and be boring, but honestly I'm doing more than I was before she left.  This week, I've been watching Ellie (6 month old girl) in the morning so I don't leave here until 1ish.  Thankfully, I don't have a language lesson today.  I'm trying to enroll in some classes at NEO, so I have to fax in the paperwork.  It's been an interesting experience to say the least.  Who would have thought it could be so difficult to enroll from Africa.  haha!

Thankfully it isn't as hot here today.  Monday and Tuesday it was crazy hot.  This hot wind came through called Shihillee (sp?)  It was 108 degrees, not to mention, it was like a desert storm.  The wind was blowing like mad.  I had put my laundry out on the line and it was completely cover with dirt when I returned.  Oh the joys of living without a drier.  haha!  So I had to wash my clothes again, but no worries.

  • Believe it or not!

Yeah, I can't believe I'm doing this.  It's not like I don't have enough things to spend my time on and now I'm creating a xanga page.  Thanks Kayla!  I'm blaming it on you.  haha!  I also thought I could find a friend I've been looking for unsuccessfully.  If anyone out there knows how to find Josh Epperson, let me know.  I lost connection with him and he's impossible to find.  So today is crazy busy, but great.

I've already been to the market, the airport and back home.  A typically day in North Africa consists of three things at the max and it's not even lunch time yet.  Wahoo!  So I went to the airport to rent a car for this weekend and I was so proud of myself, because I did almost all of it in Arabic.  I could have done it all but then he told me that he spoke English so I wanted to make sure I said it all right.  Haha!!  I should just trust myself.
